This was revealed in a 36 page affidavit filed by the IRS before a hearing for David R Waters,a former employee of her in 1993 and 1994 (and was convicted in 1995 of theft in his stealing $ 54,000 from O'Hair's organisation). The attornies claimed that the crime was orchestrated by Waters in a plot to steal $ 600,000. The affidavit said that IRS agents had concluded that the family was killed, based on several pieces of circumstantial evidence and report from confidential sources. Authorities suspect the family's remains were stored in barrels and buried on a ranch near San Antonio. Madalyn Murray-O'Hair was the most prominent atheist in the USA during her times. She helped bring about the 1963 US Supreme Court decision banning organised prayer in public schools. She was a powerful orator and had travelled around the world several times meeting and establishing contacts with atheists and rationalists. Madalyn and her son Jon Garth Murray and granddaughter Robin Murray disappeared four years ago and a wild campaign spread that she ran off with her organisation's money. Some others suggested that Ms O'Hair who was 77 and ailing, had gone off to die quitely so that Christians wouldn't pray over her. The affidavit also named Water's former cellmate Gary Karr, who is imprisoned in Detroit and had admitted involvement in Texas homicides that closely match the O'Hair case, according to the FBI. Danny Fry, whose headless, handless body was dumped in Texas two days after the O'Hairs vanished, also is named in the affidavit. A fourth man also is named, but his role is unclear. But who actually were behind these people? Who unleashed the campaign against Madalyn's integrity? What role Christian fundamentalist groups played in the killing of the O'Hair family? Where are the roots of the mysterious "California group" that paid huge funds to defend David Waters? The Alliance bulletin will continue to inform you of all new developments. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Remember: GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS OF INDIAN RATIONALIST ASSOCIATION AND THE SECOND INTERNATIONAL RATIONALIST RATIONALIST CONFERENCE. 26-31 DECEMBER 1999: KERALA.
