Christopher Hitchens, born in Britain, is now living in the USA. He is a prominent journalist and columnist, currently writing for 'The Nation' and 'Vanity Fair'. As foreign correspondent and travel writer he has written from more than 60 countries on all five continents. He has authored several books, among them The Monarchy: A Critique of Britain's Favorite Fetish (1990) and The Missionary Position: Mother Teresa in Theory and Practice (1996). He made documentary films for BBC and Channel IV, among them The God That Fled: Bhagwan Rajneesh (BBC 1980), Hell's Angel: Mother Teresa (Channel Four 1996) and Princess Diana: The Mourning After (Channel Four 1998). In 1996, he received the "Professional Freedom and Responsibility Award". Christopher Hitchens is Melon Professor of English at the University of Pittsburgh, Visiting Professor of Liberal Studies at the New School of Social Research in New York, and member of the Advisory Board of the Graduate School for Journalism at the University of California, Berkley.
